Designer. Illustrator. Lefty Letterer.

Hi, I’m Marianne Henning!

I have loved creating art for as long as I can remember. As a young girl I would get how-to-draw books from the library and would spend hours drawing and tracing (my specialty was horses). I was always trying to improve my skills because I knew that when I grew older I wanted to do something creative. I attended the Columbus College of Art & Design and received a bachelor’s degree in interior design. However, I didn’t exactly end up (or even necessarily want to be) in the field.

A few years later, I was happily married, but rather unhappily working in a customer service call center. I was feeling rather stifled creatively, so I started Ivy Line Design as an Etsy shop back in 2014 as a creative outlet. I was just starting to get serious about planning to turn my hobby into a business when later that year my husband was diagnosed with cancer.  Because of that, I had to focus my energy on being a caregiver to him through radiation and chemotherapy. He had always been my biggest cheerleader, so after he passed in 2016, it took a while for me to get my spark back. But here I am again, more determined to make Ivy Line Design a recognizable and reputable brand- I know that would've made him pretty darn proud too.

So here I am today! I’m the designer, watercolor illustrator, and lefty letterer behind Ivy Line Design. I offer watercolor art and illustrations. My illustration style is rooted in realism, but I love amping up the vibrancy in my subject matter. My specialties are plant and animal life, food illustration, as well as landscapes. I also provide graphic design services for stationery items such as wedding and party invitations, as well as logo design for small businesses in health, fashion, or beauty fields where my classy, boho, and feminine style tends to be best suited. I also enjoy helping others develop a love and hone a craft for watercolor painting by hosting social watercolor workshops.

I am currently based in Newark, Ohio, but my motto is “Have paints, will travel,” and travel I do! I speak Spanish proficiently and I’d love to work with you on your next project wherever you are located! Send me a line and I’d love to be in contact with you!
